Liftmen. The initial pay of liftmen has

been reduced by the Salaries Report by $12 per annum, but as it was clearly the intention of the Report that officers should not suffer actual loss on revision, the six men working the lifts in the Fire Brigade Building should draw one increment more in their new scale than they would have attained by length of service therein i.e. they will keep their pre-revision salaries.

Recruits. We accept the recommendation

the Chief Officer that recruits to the Brigade shall draw $19 per mensem during their period of training, receiving the initial pay ($21 per mensem) of 2nd Class Firemen only when they have been passed as

efficient.
